Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is a term used to describe the characteristics of the indoor climate of a building or home, with special concern for the impact of health and comfort. Indoor air quality has become a major concern for the impact on health and comfort. Indoor air quality has become a major concern for office workers, plant workers and homeowners since the inception of the "energy efficient" building or home. The indoor quality within business office buildings and other structures may be adversely affected by a variety of conditions and factors. These include inadequate general ventilation system design and/or operation, insufficient outside air intake rates, emission of contaminants from building materials and furnishings, stagnant water sources, tobacco smoking, and the use of solvents, pesticides, and other chemical substances.

ENVIROCON's certified and experienced staff use specialized instruments to measure and quantify indoor air contaminants. With advanced knowledge and use of highly recognized IAQ standards such as the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) and the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC), ENVIROCON's consulting services by our certified professionals are leading the way to overall heath and well-being of others.

The goal of ENVIROCON's Indoor Air Quality staff is to help create healthy environments free of contaminants that may potentially affect the well-being and comfort of building occupants or homeowners. The types of indoor air quality consulting services that ENVIROCON specializes and offers are unlimited which include:

Indoor Environmental/Air Quality Testing

As stated earlier, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is a term used to describe the characteristics of the indoor climate of a building or home, with special concern for the impact on health and comfort. Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) expands the definition of IAQ to include occupant stressors not related to the air such as lighting, noise, ergonomic stressors, overcrowding and psychosocial stressors. Indoor air quality is not necessarily a concept that is easy to understand or define. It is constantly changing interaction of a complex set of factors. Each of these factors must be considered when looking for an indoor air quality problem. The certified professionals at ENVIROCON have a comprehensive understanding of these factors and without considering each of the following, simple solutions to the problems at hand could be easily missed.

ENVIROCON deals with the wide variety of indoor variety of indoor air quality issues including sick building syndrome (SBS), building related illness (BRI) and multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS).

For all your indoor air quality needs, ENVIROCON provides solutions based on our commitment to protect the health and safety of people in the workplace and community through extensive knowledge and experience.

Microbial Air Sampling/Assessments

A growing body of scientific evidence has indicated that the air within homes and other buildings can be more seriously polluted than the outdoor air, in even the largest and most industrialized cities. Since people can spend up to 90 percent of their time indoors, the risks to health may be greater due to exposure to air pollution indoors than outdoors. In many states, indoor fungal growth (mold) is of paramount concern; water/moisture intrusion, poor/improper building construction or renovation methods are often the cause of mold growth.

ENVIROCON, LLC has performed hundreds of indoor air quality assessments for both commercial and residential clients dealing with microbial growth from water intrusion or bacterial, from sewage infiltration. Our certified staff are experts at identifying conditions conducive to microbial growth, and we maintain a complete inventory of instrumentation specifically for these types of investigations.

ENVIROCON's microbial investigations (mold, bacteria, etc.) not only identify where and if microbial contamination exists, they also identify if water/moistures source(s) supporting the growth exists, assess the extent of microbial growth and water damage and recommend a response action plan to remediate the moisture source and microbial contamination created. Our certified staff can provide initial contamination surveys including a visual assessment, collection and analysis of microbial samples (air, bulk, and surface), ventilation system examination, wall cavity/hidden source evaluation and water/moisture source determination.

ENVIROCON's experience and knowledge in the microbial identification and assessment area of indoor air quality has provided us with the ability to help determine if potential reactions and health effects associated with microbial contamination exists in an indoor environment.

Microbial Remediation Design/Project Management
At the conclusion of initial microbial investigations, ENVIROCON provides recommendations as to the extent of microbial contamination found and provides the client with detailed remediation specifications or scopes of work recommended for the removal and clean-up of the microbial contamination. ENVIROCON utilizes a high-tech fiber optic scope to view inside walls for microbial growth allowing minimal destruction and minimizing potential disturbance of mold spores during remediation.

As part of the on-going effort to maximize the client's health and well-being and minimize costs, ENVIROCON provides project management during remediation activities to insure all precautions and protocols are followed as stated in the specifications. During project management of a remediation project, ENVIROCON personnel help establish and maintain containment of the microbial contamination so that mold spores do not migrate from the containment and cause additional problems and costs.

ENVIROCON also performs post remediation inspections and follow-ups sampling after restoration services have been provided to the client.

HVAC Assessments/Investigations
Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems of a business or home have a direct impact on indoor air quality. ENVIROCON understands the requirements needed for HVAC systems to work at maximum capacity to help save energy costs and insure greater comfort. Temperature control, outdoor air ventilation, filtration, pressurization, and moisture control are important issues addressed by ENVIROCON during ventilation assessment/surveys.
